Everard Richard Calthrop (3 March 1857 – 30 March 1927) was a British railway engineer and inventor. Calthrop was a notable promoter and builder of narrow-gauge railways, especially of 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge, and was especially prominent in India. His most notable achievement was the Barsi Light Railway, but he is best known in his home country for the Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway. Calthrop has been described as a "railway genius.

Lau Pa Sat, also known as Telok Ayer Market, is a historic building located within the Downtown Core in the Central Area of Singapore. It was first built in 1824 as a fish market on the waterfront serving the people of early colonial Singapore and rebuilt in 1838. It was then relocated and rebuilt at the present location in 1894. It is currently a food court with stalls selling a variety of local cuisine.

Deleting files again

Some time ago you helped clear out files in Kategori:Calon untuk penghapusan segera. Perhaps you could check once more? Either delete of remove template if problem is fixed.

There are also a few files in Kategori:Semua fail Wikipedia dengan nama yang sama di Wikimedia Commons and Kategori:Semua fail Wikipedia dengan nama berbeza di Wikimedia Commons.

Most of the files in Khas:Imej_tak_digunakan are probably unfree and they should either be added to an article or deleted. Since there are so many I think it would be good if a few admins worked on it together. X-wiki abuse by Yassaarr

Hi CyberTroopers, I'm a Commons CU contacting you because you appear to be an active admin with an understanding of English and I cannot locate an admin noticeboard here on ms.wiki. You've also seem to have had some interaction with this user (e.g., deletion of Hajah Dayang Normala Haji Awang Tambi). Yassaarr is a sockpuppeteer and serial copyright violator; they and their socks are blocked on both en.wiki on commons (see w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Yassaarr/Archive and c:Category:Sockpuppets of Yassaarr). They remain active on ms.wiki, where they are adding files uploaded by their socks that they know to be copyright violations. As one example:

This addition of copyvios to ms.wiki through socking has happened many, many more times; as shorter examples:

Per the above, although the files are uploaded by their sock at Commons, Yassaarr clearly knows them to be copyright violations when adding them here on ms.wiki, which seems to be local abuse and bad faith. Could you please take the appropraite action or point me to the proper venue for such a request? Changes later this week

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 6 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 7 September. It will be on all wikis from 8 September (calendar).
  • Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 6 September at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis) and on 8 September at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
  • On Special pages that only have one tab, the tab-bar's row will be hidden in the Vector-2022 skin to save space. The row will still show if Gadgets use it. Gadgets that currently append directly to the CSS id of #p-namespaces should be updated to use the mw.util.addPortletLink function instead. Gadgets that style this id should consider also targeting #p-associated-pages, the new id for this row. Examples are available. [19][20]

X-wiki abuse by Yassaarr

Hi CyberTroopers, I'm a Commons CU contacting you because you appear to be an active admin with an understanding of English and I cannot locate an admin noticeboard here on ms.wiki. You've also seem to have had some interaction with this user (e.g., deletion of Hajah Dayang Normala Haji Awang Tambi). Yassaarr is a sockpuppeteer and serial copyright violator; they and their socks are blocked on both en.wiki on commons (see w:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Yassaarr/Archive and c:Category:Sockpuppets of Yassaarr). They remain active on ms.wiki, where they are adding files uploaded by their socks that they know to be copyright violations. As one example:

Per the above, although the files are uploaded by their sock at Commons, Yassaarr clearly knows them to be copyright violations when adding them here on ms.wiki, which seems to be local abuse and bad faith. Could you please take the appropraite action or point me to the proper venue for such a request? (I understand, for example, that "Seseorang pengguna boleh disekat jika perlu bagi melindungi hak, harta, ataupun keselamatan Yayasan Wikimedia, para pengguna, ataupun orang awam. Templat:FlagIOC

Hello! Can you do something regarding the FlagIOC template and the historical flag placed in there for example Canada's flag at the 1924 Winter Olympics and the Hong Kong flag at the 1954 Asian Games. The template has been like that a while now. I think it has something to do with the old flag templates which are there. I think they must be deleted because English Wikipedia don't use them anymore. I did open a ticket about it but none can solve it so far. I guess, I will have to pass it to the people in the Meta. BTW would deleting it solve the problem, because the template is linked to a lot of articles? - CyberTroopers bincang/sumbangan 18:20, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
Hello! I think you should do with this template like what the user did with the Indonesian template maybe translating the usage fields and also doing something with the malaysian module and also use FlagIOC as a shortcut e.g. FlagIOC|CAN|1924 Winter}} something in that direction. 88.88.4.178 14:44, 12 Oktober 2022 (UTC)

Recent changes

  • Two database fields in the templatelinks table are now being dropped: tl_namespace and tl_title. Any queries that rely on these fields need to be changed to use the new normalization field called tl_target_id. See T299417 for more information. This is part of normalization of links tables. [23][24]

Changes later this week

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 20 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 21 September. It will be on all wikis from 22 September (calendar).
  • In Kartographer maps, you can use icons on markers for common points of interest. On Tuesday, the previous icon set will be updated to version maki 7.2. That means, around 100 new icons will be available. Additionally, all existing icons were updated for clarity and to make them work better in international contexts. [25][26]

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 27 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 28 September. It will be on all wikis from 29 September (calendar).
  • Visual diffs will become available to all users, except at the Wiktionaries and Wikipedias. [27]
  • Talk pages on the mobile site will change at the Arabic, Bangla, Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Korean, and Vietnamese Wikipedias. They should be easier to use and provide more information. [28] [29]
  • In the Modul namespace, pages ending with .json will be treated as JSON, just like they already are in the Pengguna and MediaWiki namespaces. [30]
