Rollout of the new audio and video player

Please help translate to your language

Hello,

Over the next months we will gradually change the audio and video player of Wikis from Kultura to Video.js and with that, the old player won’t be accessible anymore. The new player has been active as a beta feature since May 2017.

The new player has many advantages, including better design, consistent look with the rest of our interface, better compatibility with browsers, ability to work on mobile which means our multimedia will be properly accessible on iPhone, better accessibility and many more.

The old player has been unmaintained for eight years now and is home-brewn (unlike the new player which is a widely used open source project) and uses deprecated and abandoned frameworks such as jQuery UI. Removing the old player’s code also improves performance of the Wikis for anyone visiting any page (by significantly reducing complexity of the dependency graph of our ResourceLoader modules. See this blog post.). The old player has many open bugs that we will be able to close as resolved after this migration.

The new player will solve a lot of old and outstanding issues but also it will have its own bugs. All important ones have been fixed but there will be some small ones to tackle in the future and after the rollout.

What we are asking now is to turn on the beta feature for the new player and let us know about any issues.

Where do you run into problems using it? Which new features would you like to see? Editors of all experience levels and with all workflows around Kartographer are welcome to participate.

Over the last few months, we have been working on a solution to make this software usable on wikis where it isn’t available yet. In the next phase of the project, we are planning to improve Kartographer itself. Because Kartographer is used quite a lot on this wiki, we would love to hear about your experiences. Masalah terhadap tampilan Templat:Pendokumenan

Salam sejahtera.

Saya lihat terdapat masalah dari segi tampilan bagi Templat:Pendokumenan, di mana ia berkemungkinan ada ralat pada Modul:Documentation dan yang berkaitan. Beberapa percubaan telah saya lakukan untuk menyunting modul tersebut, tetapi kelihatannya tidak berjaya. Saya mungkin akan menyunting semula templat tersebut dan akan mengambil parameter templat daripada versi bahasa Sepanyol yang tidak menggunakan sokongan modul (Plantilla:Documentación) buat sementara waktu.

Oleh itu, kepada sesiapa yang mempunyai kepakaran dalam modul, harap boleh membantu memperbaiki masalah yang timbul.

The flags needs to match correctly with the years that the nations participated in the competitions. Hong Kong and Canada's flags don't match with the years they participated in Asian Games and the Olympic Games respectively at the 1924 Winter Olympics and the 1954 Asian Games. Hello! Can you do something regarding the template:Infobox Country Olympics?. That template looks a bit old and to out of date for a page like this one. I think it is enough with one country template for competitions and such. I think it is enough to use Templat:Infobox country at games. Hello! Is it possible to correct the historical flag errors in this template?. The flags must be in contrary to the years which the competitions took place. For example the Hong Kong flag for the 1954 Asian Games and the Canadian flag at the 1924 Winter Olympics. The flag should match the Country flag IOC alias template or the Country alias module. Hello! Can you take a look into the Templat:FlagIOC/FlagIOC2 regarding the historical flags in that template. For example the flags of Hong Kong at the 1954 Asian Games and the Flag of Canada at the 1924 Winter Olympics and also the historical flags of India in 1934, Malaysia in 1961 and Vietnam in 1973. FlagIOC template

Hello! Can you take a look into the flagIOC template and the historical flags which are placed there. I think the main problem lies in the way the words are arranged you use a different wording arrangement and that creates a mix-up. You use <event name> and <year> instead of <year> and <event name> as on English pages. Try to synchronize the flags more fluidly. And can you also translate the usage section to your language. Categories for Olympic infoboxes by continent

Hello! Can you add a category for Olympic infoboxes by continent. For example for Asia, Europe, Oceania, Africa or America. That category should be in your language. For example if Afghanistan is in Asia then they should stand there, or if Mozambique is in Africa then they should stand there or if Barbados is in America they should stand there or if the Netherlands is in Europe they should stand there. It would be better with an infobox template with parameters and fields in your language. You translated it from English in 2008 when it existed on the English page. It works to some extent. Templat:FlagIOC

Hello! Can you do something regarding the FlagIOC template and the historical flags which are in there?. I think it is possible to rearrange them in some way like what they have done on the Indonesian template. Re-check the flags in question and then try to use the flags which already exists. For example the Canadian flag at the 1924 Winter Olympics, The Indian flags at the 1934 British Empire Games and the Flag of Hong Kong at the 1954 Asian Games etc. You can delete the template and create a new one if that solves the problem. You use a different formatting than the English template. I don't think the transclusion is a problem you can use FlagIOC as a means to solve it.
