New Mexico ialah sebuah negeri yang terletak di Barat Amerika Syarikat. Menurut Banci Amerika Syarikat 2020, New Mexico ialah negeri ke-15 paling ramai penduduk dengan &&&&&&&&02117522.&&&&&02,117,522 penduduk[1] tetapi ke-5 terbesar mengikut keluasan darat, seluas 121,298.15 batu persegi 121,298.15 batu persegi (314,160.8 km2).[2] New Mexico dibahagikan kepada 33 county dan mengandungi 106 majlis perbandaran yang terdiri daripada bandar, pekan, kampung dan county yang diperbadankan.[3] Perbandaran New Mexico meliputi hanya &&&&&&&&&&&&&&01.&&&&&01% daripada keluasan tanah negeri tetapi merupakan rumah kepada &&&&&&&&&&&&&065.40000065.4% penduduknya.[2]

Semua majlis perbandaran diberikan kuasa kerajaan tempatan termasuk kutipan cukai harta, pembiayaan perlindungan kebakaran dan transit awam, menyediakan dan menyelenggara taman awam, tanah perkuburan, hospital, perpustakaan, dan muzium, peraturan bangunan dan pengezonan, dan penyelenggaraan air perbandaran, pembetung. , elektrik, gas asli dan utiliti buangan pepejal.[4] Perbandaran di New Mexico boleh menerima pakai salah satu daripada lima bentuk kerajaan perbandaran termasuk Datuk Bandar-Majlis, Datuk Bandar-Majlis dengan Pengurus, Pengurus Majlis, Pengurus Suruhanjaya atau Pengurus Majlis Bandaraya-Daerah. Semua majlis perbandaran yang melebihi 10,000 orang mesti memilih wakil mereka mengikut daerah, dengan mereka yang berumur di bawah 10,000 mempunyai pilihan untuk berbuat demikian.[5] Rakyat dalam bentuk kerajaan Datuk Bandar-Majlis memilih seorang datuk bandar (yang hanya mengundi untuk memutuskan seri, dan tidak mempunyai kuasa veto), dan sebuah majlis yang terdiri daripada 4 hingga 10 ahli majlis atau pemegang amanah. Mana-mana majlis perbandaran yang mempunyai penduduk melebihi 1,000 dengan bentuk kerajaan Datuk Bandar/Majlis boleh menubuhkan jawatan pengurus yang tidak dipilih dan mentadbir pengambilan dan pemecatan pekerja perbandaran, menguatkuasakan ordinan, menyediakan belanjawan, tetapi tidak boleh mengundi majlis.[5] Pengurus dalam perbandaran Suruhanjaya/Pengurus mempunyai kuasa yang sama dengan pengurus dalam bentuk kerajaan Datuk Bandar/Majlis.[5] Sistem Datuk Bandar-Majlis boleh ditukar kepada perbandaran Suruhanjaya/Pengurus melalui undi popular jika populasi melebihi 3,000. Rakyat dalam perbandaran Suruhanjaya/Pengurus juga boleh mengundi atas inisiatif, pungutan suara dan penarikan balik dan datuk bandar mempunyai hak untuk mengundi mengenai isu majlis.[5] Hanya satu perbandaran, Los Alamos, adalah City-County yang diperbadankan dengan sistem Pengurus Majlis melalui Piagam County Los Alamos.[6] Perbandaran juga boleh menerima pakai piagam peraturan rumah yang memberikan kuasa perbandaran tempatan yang tidak dibenarkan secara khusus untuk majlis perbandaran oleh statut negeri.[5] Dua belas majlis perbandaran telah menerima pakai peraturan rumah atau piagam di New Mexico.[7]

Perbandaran terbesar mengikut populasi di New Mexico ialah Albuquerque dengan 564,559 penduduk atau kira-kira &&&&&&&&&&&&&026.70000026.7% daripada penduduk negeri.[1] Perbandaran terkecil mengikut populasi ialah Grenville dengan 22 penduduk.[1] Perbandaran terbesar mengikut kawasan darat juga ialah Albuquerque yang meliputi 187.73 bt2 (486.2 km2), manakala Virden yang terkecil pada 0.22 bt2 (0.57 km2).[2]
