Orang Tharu adalah kumpulan etnik pribumi di Terai di selatan Nepal dan utara India.[4][5][6] Mereka bertutur dalam Bahasa Tharu.[7] Mereka diakui sebagai nasionaliti rasmi oleh Kerajaan Nepal.[8] Di Terai India, mereka tinggal terutamanya di Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh dan Bihar. Kerajaan India mengiktiraf orang Tharu sebagai suku India yang dijadualkan.[9][10]
