Abha Saxena adalah Penyelaras Unit Etika Kesihatan Global Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia di Geneva, Switzerland. Dia berkahwin dengan psikiatri yang berpusat di WHO, Shekhar Saxena.[1] Sebilangan besar pekerjaannya melibatkan menasihati negara-negara berpendapatan rendah dan sederhana mengenai etika peruntukan sumber dalam menangani penyakit bawaan vektor, penuaan, dan masalah perubatan dan kesihatan awam yang lain.

Saxena dididik dan dilatih di India sebagai ahli anestesiologi.[2] Selama dua puluh tahun dia berlatih perubatan secara aktif dalam penyelidikan di hospital dan masyarakat di India. Dia juga merupakan ahli fakulti dan Profesor di All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India (AIIMS),[3][4] yang ditubuhkan pada tahun 1956.[5]

Pada tahun 2001, dia bergabung dengan Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia di Geneva, Switzerland, lokasi suaminya, Shekhar Saxena, juga bekerja sebagai Pengarah Jabatan Kesihatan Mental dan Penyalahgunaan Bahan (MSD). Sejak tahun 2002, Saxena telah menguruskan Jawatankuasa Kajian Etika Penyelidikan WHO. Di WHO, dia menjalankan program latihan pendek dalam etika penyelidikan bukan hanya untuk staf WHO, tetapi juga di beberapa negara Afrika dan Asia, menggunakan banyak kajian kes yang dimasukkan dalam Buku Petunjuk mengenai Isu Etika dalam Penyelidikan Kesihatan Antarabangsa,[6] yang telah diterjemahkan ke dalam sekurang-kurangnya lima bahasa.
